What does Gua sha mean?

Gua means "scrape" and sha means "red rash."

 

What is Gua sha Therapy?

Gua sha is a 2,000 year old Asian treatment useful for treating pain, as well as many other issues from, Sciatic Nerve pain to Plantar Fasciitis to Migraines to reducing Anxiety and Stress.

 

What happens during a Gua sha Therapy treatment?
During a Gua sha treatment, special smooth tools, (made of buffalo horn, rose quartz, amethyst or jade) are used to scrape the affected area, which have been lubricated with coconut oil or lotion. The scraping creates a rush of blood flow, thereby creating a raised red rash, also known as Petechiae. The redness will subside in a few days. Many people find immediate relief to their pain, reduction in stress and feel more relaxed.
